Positiv Material Identifikasjon (PMI)

Used to verify that correct materials are used in assembling metallic alloys.

PMI (X-ray source): Suitable for identifying material type and providing chemical content. Some restrictions on carbon steel.

PMI (Spectrographic): Suitable for all metallic materials. It provides a very accurate chemical analysis. This also applies to carbon steel. This method could, along with hardness measurement, replace lost material certificates.
